Celebrate Highland Heritage During Celtic Dreams Weekend at the Ohio Renaissance
The Ohio Renaissance Festival wears a bigger kilt during Celtic Dreams Weekend. Her Majesty has ordered a Celtic celebration full of music and dance, Highland Games, artisans, and food and drink.
Featured artisans this weekend include Greenman Pottery from Ireland and Sew Knightly from Dayton, OH. Joe and Sandy Wahler, owners of Greenman Pottery, make beautiful, functional and decorative stoneware. Stone-woven sheep, Celtic wedding goblets, and decorative medallions are just a few of their items. Susan Johnston, owner of Sew Knightly, creates traditional custom-made Highland-wear including kilts and sashes.
Celtic Rhythm Dancers USA showcases true Irish dance and costuming. See their impressive footwork on stages throughout the village.
No Celtic celebration would be complete without a little friendly competition. Highland athletes from all over the United States will compete in the Ohio Highland Games at the Ohio Renaissance Festival during Celtic Dreams Weekend. The hammer throw, weight throw, and caber toss are just a few of the seven events athletes will compete in. Three world-records may be broken on the field during Saturday’s competition. On Sunday, patrons are invited to participate in the games under the instruction of the athletes.
In addition to celebrating Highland Heritage, the village welcomes special guests –
Tree of Life offers a unique musical experience that will uplift the spirit. Audiences will enjoy the tribal side of life with Tree of Life.
Splash into an ocean of fun with Cut Thrust and Run as four men with swords walk the plank of comedy.
Johnny Phoenix, Danger Comedy also returns to the village this weekend. Feats of fire and hilarity collide with action packed comedy. Audiences rave over the finale show when Johnny Phoenix walks through 12 feet of fire barefoot.
Enjoy a fine selection of foods and ales while celebrating Highland Heritage. Bratwursts and Beck’s make a great meal while browsing through the over 130 unique arts and crafts shoppes, or watching one of the nearly 100 shows daily on 12 stages.
